SMRT Challenge 2007
16/09/07...Continued!

Let me now continue from the previous post…

As the exit came into view we braced ourselves and got out of the station as quickly as possible. I was the fastest runner (well not bragging or anything…) so I sprinted away first. Zigzagging through all the food stands and the throngs of people along the pathway was both dangerous and thrilling at the same time.

The rest of the members followed behind me. WJ got stuck trying to push through the crowd so he followed my line of direction in the end.

We had a clear path in front us now.

I just ran and ran and ran, oblivious to the stares from foreigners and other Singaporeans. They must have thought I was nuts or something, but who cares right?

This was serious, like seriously serious.

WE HAD TO GET THERE BEFORE 61.

WE HAD TO WIN AT LEAST TOP 3!
WE JUST HAD TO.

The balloons and white tent came into view, the yellow race counter was ticking away the seconds, the finishing line was right beneath it… then my feet ached; I took a breath while waiting for the others to catch up. Saw MH almost catching up with me and I continued my run…

Almost there…
The entrance was just steps away from me.
And no sign of 61!
I wanted to run in but I couldn’t.
We’re a team remember!
We have to check in together.

Through spasmodic gulps… I waited and waited. It seemed like eternity before the rest caught up. Yes! MH had reached and so did WJ and we ran together. KH was lagging behind but we knew he was trying his best to catch up with all of us. I shouted for him to hurry and encouraged him that he could do it!

”COME ON, KIA HONG!”
I screamed at the top of my lungs while running.
He was just steps away.

But that’s when…

61 zoomed past and got in about 5 seconds before us.

“SMRT CHALLENGE!”

We hollered, as we jumped to the front of the counter. Got our team number verified and we were officially checked in. The guy at the counter handed us our check-in number which was…

3!!!

Like ooh la la! Was asked by the cameraman to say something when we checked in but we were all breathless and just blur to everything around so we just shouted “SMRT CHALLENGE!” once again.

Collected our goodie bags at the counter and submitted our race passport. Went to a corner and started discussing fervently about what the final outcome would be. Chatted and chatted for a while and we realised how tired we were. Got drinks and took a break. After all, the results would only be revealed about 2 hours later. We had a long wait.So during our break we just completed some questionnaires and surveys. Waiting was just terrible.

Heard the emcees on stage requesting for people to answer questions and WJ and I went to check it out. There was already a large group of people there already and some annoying people that just got in the way of the emcees, all scrambling to be selected. We just stood there amused and WJ was selected by the female emcee to answer a question. See, it helps if you don’t behave like a deranged bitch and wait patiently to be selected.

WJ got on stage to answer the question and I got near to the top of the stage so I could get some pictures. That’s when the female emcee struck up a conversation with me.

Emcee: “Hey you look very familiar to me!”
Me: “No I don’t think so…”
Emcee: “Oh maybe it’s the braces! I think it’s because I’ve seen many people today who wear braces, that’s why you look so familiar.”

What? What?!
HELLO! LIKE HELLO!
SERIOUSLY.

*Pictures executioners dragging her away to a slaughter house*

Anyways WJ was asked a simple true/false question and he won a $10 TANGS voucher! Congratulations!

Taking a picture of WJ being questioned.

While I was trying to take a picture, the female emcee jumped away and I signalled for her to go back into the photo…
That’s when she leaned towards WJ and gave a weird expression as seen above.

Uhhh.

After he was done, I recounted the incident to WJ.. Told him that I should have replied, “Why? Do I look like your ex-boyfriend?” That would put a sock in her mouth. But never mind, no hard feelings.

Oh yes, met Wei Ling there too. Gave her a shocked look when I saw her. She had taken part and represented RGS. Asked her how was it but she just replied “Life sucks.” Okay… got her handphone number ‘cos I lost her number and we went our separate ways.

Continued waiting again and I was so bored I took WJ’s camera and just started cam-whoring. Little did I know, Wei Ling was just a distance away and she saw everything I did. She smsed me and called me a cam-whore. Oops.

So fast forward to the prize-giving ceremony. The emcees were obviously playing with us and kept announcing other teams from other categories first.

Finally they announced the student category and started from 10th place.

Top 3, top 3, I chanted in my mind.

Alas all was not to be and we were announced as the 6th team. We had arrived with a timing of 3 hr 52 minutes. I was a little disappointed but oh well, got up the stage, smiled for pictures and took our prize.

Now you must be thinking that 61 must be gloating away somewhere. Well they got 4th place and they won the same prize as us so… too bad. All’s fair.

In the end the first prize winner was announced to have arrived about an hour before everyone else and we were like “Huh?” that wasn’t possible. But hey, who were we to question the decision of the judge? Seems like we didn’t accumulate enough merit points and thus were overtaken by other teams in the final point system. Ahh, sadness.

Took some pictures and we all went for dinner. Indeed, it was an unforgettable experience and definitely an improvement from last year’s timing of 7hr+. When we arrived last year, everyone had packed up and left already. In the spirit of competitiveness and fun, congratulations to every single team that won!

And that includes you guys, 61.

Some pictures!

Shocking-ness abourrit!
Superhero KH, hope you don’t mind me posting this picture! xD

Prize envelope given to us.

Close-up.

See we’re the 6th team!
Aww.

The contents of the envelope.
$10 x 30 = $300 worth of TANGS vouchers!

Group photo at the end of everything! =)

Now we’re armed with all the shopping vouchers, we’re satisfied, happy and of course very hungry and tired.

So in the immediate future…

Let’s all go…

SHOPPING!

End.

SMRT Challenge 2007
16/09/07

Sunday was a day that was rather unexpected. I woke up at 6 a.m. and couldn’t really sleep the night before because I was afraid of the outcome of the challenge on Sunday. Thinking back on how our team fared last year kinda fazed me so I wasn’t very excited or enthusiastic about Sunday’s challenge.

Got up and things to pack into my bag just flooded into my head. I packed food, umbrella, extra clothes, water and even a bus guide. My bag was already rather heavy by then, but I wanted to keep the weight manageable as I could run if I needed to.

Set off to Orchard MRT station. Met Ming Han there and we were complaining ‘cos we were waiting for Wei Jie, our team leader for the day, who was running late.

Wei Jie finally arrived and we walked to Ngee Ann Civic Plaza which was quite a distance away. What greeted us were tons of balloons, a giant tent and a sea of red. Boy, was there a crowd. All the participants were clad in the SMRT Challenge 2007 t-shirt which was bright red. I must say though, that red isn’t my colour, I didn’t really like the t-shirt but we had to so…

TA-DAH!

Me, Wei Jie, Ming Han and Kia Hong.
All raring to go!

We quickly registered and got our free back packs. Pinned our number tags for the day which was 0010 with the pathetic number of safety pins they gave to us. Joined the rest for a crowd to listen to all the banal speeches by the head of SMRT and chiefs of transport or something.

Planet Fitness instructors then got on stage to help to rah-rah and do a workout demonstration to get everybody all warmed up for the impending race. (Which was mostly ignored by the young crowd since we didn’t really give a damn.) After that there was a performance by a traditional drum group which was ear-splitting, but overall rather enjoyable.

We were flagged off around 9+ and quickly ran towards the yellow coloured balloons which had our clue sheet in it. KH was supposed to get the clue but he kinda slipped and fell on his butt when he burst one of the balloons. Helped him up and Wei Jie got the clue for us instead. Ran away to a secluded corner to get away from the crowd and we started to decipher the clues…

A brief explanation of the race:

We had joined the student category and these were 8 stations we had to complete. Upon completion, we were to make our way back to Ngee Ann Civic Plaza which was the final checkpoint. Along the way, we could collect merit points if we displayed courteous behaviour or demerit points for flouting the rules.

Prizes are as follows:

1st prize - $2000

2nd - $1500

3rd prize - $1000,

For each prize, half the amount would be donated to the school in a separate cheque. So, we weren’t just doing this for ourselves, we were representing VS as the only team in the race.

Yeah! I’ll try to remember as best as to where we went so here goes!

1st stop: Aljunied station.

We had to make our way to Geylang Home for the Aged where we were supposed to find out the names of certain blocks of flats which had specific names assigned to them. I got tasked with searching one corner of the flats but got hopelessly lost and it turned out to be a fruitless attempt. Wei Jie called and said they had gotten all the clues already and there I was all panicky and blur… Quickly made our way to the counter and got our Race passport stamped.

2nd stop: Eunos station.

Because of Wei Jie’s sharp eyes, we knew that Eunos was one of the stops even before the race started as he lives in Eunos. Made our way there and we had to play a game. Each of us had to roll a thin metallic wheel using our hands for a short distance without dropping it or we had to restart. Along the way, we had to pick up placards that had images on them. Each of us picked up one and we had to identify the images. Eg. Emergency Alarm Button, Fire Extinguisher, etc. Had our passport stamped and left quickly.

Now around this time, by a wicked twist of fate, this other team which consisted of all guys too, Team 0061 (for short, let’s call them “61”.), were hot on our heels since the first stop and we kinda realised that they seemed to be around us all the time… hmm. They were the team that stood in front of us while we were waiting to be flagged off too. Certainly quite recognizable from their poseur Crumpler bags that we see so often. No offence to Crumpler bag users out there, but it really is easy to spot 2 people using Crumpler bags in the same team… especially when one of them uses the same bag as JX. JX are you reading this?!

3rd stop: Bedok station

Being uber neow, the organisers made 2 counters at far ends of the station. 1 counter was at the walkway where you take the lift up and the other is just at the opposite end. We were given an envelope that contained puzzle pieces, a marker and scotch tape. Had to piece the double-sided puzzle together. 1 side had the CitiBank credit card picture and the other had jumbled up sentences on MRT courtesy.

Pieced the picture together and MH helped to scotch tape the pieces together. The end product was a terrible looking piece of crappy paper but heck! Rushed to the other counter at the end, unscrambled the sentences, read out the sentences to the person-in-charge and got our passport stamped.

4th stop: Tanah Merah station

Got off at TM station and made our way to the free shuttle service waiting stand. There were many teams from other categories there and surprise surprise, 61 was there too… We saw the other teams waiting impatiently for what seemed like eternity for the shuttle to come and we decided to WALK/RUN to the NeWater plant where Changi depot was located.

Along the way, when we were almost close to Changi Depot, THE SHUTTLE BUS PASSED US and sent us into a state of panic. I glared at the shuttle bus and saw a member from 61 raising both his arms “triumphantly” with a scrunched up face as though he just had his first orgasm from his first sex act.

Oh gosh, I shudder to actually picture that.

Never mind. So we trudged on despite being all sweaty and aching from the walk. Reached the counter at the depot and got our clues. We had to number off the procedure to lower the ramp in an MRT in an emergency situation. By now, we were planning our next step and WJ made a call to the taxi service to get a cab for our next destination.

The 3 of us were bewildered when we saw the clue ‘cos we weren’t really knowledgeable about MRTs. WJ kinda started hyper-ventilating ‘cos he was put on hold by the operator and he had the answer on his handphone. So there we were… stuck and at a loss.

Suddenly guess who POPPED in. 61 came rushing in and were totally shocked when they saw us there first. *smirks* The look on their faces? Priceless.

Apparently, the shuttle took them to the NeWater plant but the depot was quite a distance away from the plant. So by walking there, our team had actually stumbled on the place first. Aww!

Completed the clue sheet and we were led into a MRT cabin. We had to count the total number of fire extinguishers in the MRT train while 1 member had to carry out the lowering of the ramp. WJ was tasked with the lowering of the ramp and we counted the fire extinguishers. For the record, there are 14 fire extinguishers in every MRT train. Got to look into the driver’s cabin for the first time, which was really cool.

Got our passport stamped and left quickly. The cab driver was really timely and picked us up right away. Heard one SMRT member remark that we were really smart to get a cab, lol. The cab driver was also our guardian angel for the day… but I’ll get to that later.

Passed by like almost 10 teams and we were sympathetic that they had to walk out and couldn’t get a cab. But sympathy was the last thing on our minds.

Oh yes, 61 had also gotten a cab and I think they told the driver to follow our cab… although they were stuck because our cab was blocking the path when they needed to U-turn so we had a little head start.

5th stop: Changi Airport

Along the way, we made a deal with the driver to pick us up after we finished our task. We promised him that we would finish in 10 minutes as that was the maximum time a cab could wait at the airport or risk getting summoned by the police. Stakes were really high here…

Asked him for some help with our other clues and he provided some really vital information. So we gave him a brief intro on what we were involved in and he said for the sake of the competition and for fun, he would do his best to help us. Haha, he was like speeding all the way there, about 120 km/h. Exciting!

Reached the MRT station area at Changi and we were told to count the number of fire extinguishers (again!) in a cordoned off area. Quickly counted everything and submitted our answer. Got it right on the first time, yeah!

Passport stamped and we left. Amazingly we did it all under 10 minutes. The cab driver picked us up and we headed towards our next stop…

6th stop: Bishan Sports Complex

Nearing the area, I made a himbo remark and commented that the stadium was owned by SMRT and the cab driver was laughing at me. I mean duh, the stadium would be owned by the government or something. Ahh, made a fool of myself.

Walked into the complex and made our way to the badminton court area. WJ suddenly stumbled because his leg had cramped up. We had to assist him to the badminton court. Told the staff about WJ and he just had to do some exercises to get his legs un-cramped. MH, KH and I then did the task which was to throw basketballs into the baskets, we had to get at least 2 in.

That’s when 61 came in again… zzz.

After countless attempts, we managed to complete the task. Sadly, that wasn’t the only task. Had to make our way out and search for clues in a SMRT cab. We had to find slips of paper hidden in the cab and determine the relevant ones that were true. 61 stood at a corner and watched us do our task. Guess they kinda knew where all the clues were hidden while we did the task.

THEY SHOULD BE BLINDFOLDED or stand faaaar away!

Left quickly after getting our passport stamped. 61 were once again hot on our heels. We just had to lose them!

7th stop: Tanjong Pagar station

61 reached the counter first as they were nearer to the staircase. Anyways, we had to throw balls that had velcros on them at a dart board. We had to hit the dart board 4 times and the points would be converted to time that would be shaved off our finishing time. If we hit the bull’s eye, we would win a $50 voucher.

Watched 61 do their task and they annoyingly hit the bull’s eye. We didn’t. Accumulated about 600+ points from the game and that would be the seconds shaved off from our time.

8th stop: Dhoby Ghaut station (LAST STOP!)

Got to the counter and we were supposed to re-arrange a sentence about courtesy in an MRT again. After re-arranging the sentence, we had to fish out plastic balls one by one using a ladle from a container located about a metre away. Only one member could go at the time. Managed to get all 4 balls and we had to read out the entire sentence aloud to the staff. Completed the task and rushed down stairs, almost getting scolded by the staff. Oops.

Oh yes, 61 was still doing the task when we left so… feeling good about this!
Got a merit point from a staff member while we were waiting for the MRT cos we were very considerate by standing behind the yellow line. =)
(1 merit point = 5 mins subtracted from our timing)

Waited for the MRT and sadly, 61 caught up with us. Ahh!!!
We had to make our way back to Ngee Ann Civic Plaza as fast as possible and we weren’t going to lose out to them!

Hopped onto the MRT train and I was sure our hearts palpitated fast & furiously. Said words of encouragement to one another, put our arms around one another and just took in the moment.

61 got off at Somerset station first; they would run their asses off from there to reach Ngee Ann Civic Plaza. Was a little worried at first, but WJ was sure we could beat them.

The doors opened at Orchard station and we walked briskly out of the station. Didn’t wanna incur and demerit points here. Once nearing the exit of the station, we would run till we could run no more and only stop at the finishing line.

As the exit came into view we braced ourselves…

Brows furrowed,

Hearts beating strong,

Perspiration dripping off our faces,

Our minds focussed as one.

This was it.

THIS WAS IT.

The final sprint to the finishing line.

Would we reach there before team 61?

Would we one of the last few?

What could be the outcome?

*Cues Amazing Race Music*

And I…

will leave it at that for now.

To be continued…

Happy yet not-so-happy.

Saturday was like any typical Saturday, a day when I wake up early in the morning to go for Chinese tuition. Got home from tuition after that and had to contend with air-con repairmen who were servicing our air-conditioners.

Dad threw a tantrum after that and said our house was like a “bloody pig style” and that it was a “shit hole” because of all the clutter and dust, saying he was sure the repairman laughed that our house was so messy. He was shouting his head off and throwing things around the house because they either got in his way or was an eyesore.

Like hello, I just got back from tuition and I don’t need to deal with people yelling around the house. One thing led to the next and soon both my mum and dad were yelling so like whatever, I usually deal with their quarrels by keeping quiet. I won’t bother. Anyways, he told me that since I had nothing to do (but I was doing something, I was reading newspapers until he started hollering.), I was assigned to clear the dust off the trophies and family photos.

Oh gosh I sat at the trophy and photo area for almost 2 hours, scrubbing and wiping dust off everything. Though there were moments of nostalgia when I was looking at my baby photos, which I must say were really very cute. Ah, how I miss my baby days. I found my Johnsons & Johnsons 1992 calendar for September and October that had my 1 years + mug on it.

There was me smiling and showing my 2 baby teeth off with the caption “Ha! Now I can really bite!” Yup, seems I was actually cute last time since I won that baby contest. Saw my baby pics and some of my childhood which was really nice. I was going “Aww, so sweet” in my mind. Those days…

Rawrr!

So then Matthias smsed me, which I ignored since I was half-fuming while I was clearing the dust. Then JX called and ask me to go for a movie. Couldn’t decide what to watch so I suggested Haispray. So yadda yadda, after all the planning and calling up of Javin, Matt and JX, we decided to head to Tampines Mall to catch the movie. Matthias came a little late so we couldn’t catch Hairspray. My bad, I told him to come to TM since it was nearer for the rest of us and he was the only one who stayed the furthest. Oh wells.

So we decided to watch Rogue Assassin at Century Square which was NC-16. It’s the first time I’m catching an NC-16 movie at the cinema. Though I’ve watched more heavily rated movies in the comfort of my home. And for all the neow-ness, the lady at the counter didn’t let me purchase the tickets until all four of us were present because she wanted to check all our ICs. I was like OKAYRRR, fine. She’s doing her job anyway.

Then Matthias came and we bought the tickets went in to watched the movie. Only like 3 rows were occupied in the entire cinema. Wasn’t really anticipating the movie since I’m not big on violence and gore. It’s NC-16 because there was blood, decapitations, guns, bullets and boobs (that I felt was totally unnecessary, which then lead to groans and squirms from the audience).

The enemy here being the Japanese Yakuza, lots of Japanese dialogue which was nice and I thought Devon Aoki, the boss’s daughter was cool when she had a gun to one guy’s head and a blade to other guy’s neck. After yakking that they had to obey her father’s orders and not do anything against him, she asked for…

A CHEF’S SALAD.

When the lackey was walking out to get the salad, she threw the blade at him which whizzed past his face and planted itself on the woodwork beside him. “Dressing on the side,” she deadpans. “Bitch,” he whispered in retaliation. That was arguably the only entertaining scene. =)

Jason Statham and Jet Li had a total of 2 facial expressions which was either of anger or smugness. Not to mention lots of “What the fuck?” (in Japanese too, by the way.) and other vulgarities. Got shocked and some parts such as one when one bodyguard had his brain blown out by Jason Statham and blood just spurted out. Matthias and I jumped in out seats. Haha.

Still can’t decide whether it was a good movie or not. But I guess it wasn’t worth my $9.50. I’m so gonna catch Hairspray another day.

Left the cinema and went CD-browsing. I was showing off Kuu’s FREAKY single to the others and asking them if she was hot, lol. I know, I’m just bored. Matthias got himself a CD and then we left.

Gary Cao Ge life-sized poster!
Lots of other posters too, Sembawang should give them away since they're moving anwyays.

As I was heading towards the MRT, my dad called as earlier we had agreed that he would pick me up. He told me to go to the area where cash converter used to be. Couldn’t really find my way since the entire area was blocked out for constructions and he called again, but my stupid phone kept disconnecting or something, couldn’t hear him, called him again and he started yelling at me cos he got pissed.

Whatever. It’s so not my fault.

Went to Grandma’s house and we had Crystal Jade packed dinner. Not bad, though really oily after eating for a while.

Celebrated my Grandma’s birthday together some of cousins’ birthdays as well since they were born in September. My Gugu told me that the Chinese calendar and the normal calendar is the same every 19 years of your life. That meaning, your birthday falls on the same day every 19 years in both calendars. Cool huh. My Grandma’s 19 x 4 = 76 years old!

祝你生日快乐!

Enjoyed my Saturday overall despite all the screaming. Hope I’ll enjoy the rest of my week!

Pictures!

Birthday cakes!

Warped Samuel's face using my phone.
Haha. Still cute though! =P

*All pictures were taken using my new SE handphone. Sms me your numbers if you haven’t done so, I’m using the same number. Thanks.

Mistakes Were Made

I’ve just watched the latest episode of Brothers & Sisters and I have picked out some inspiring and thought-provoking quotes to share with everyone.

“Believe me,
There are days when you wake up feeling like a failure at the one thing you’ve worked your hardest your whole life,

And today is one of those days.”

“What good is discipline, when you’re not alive to have it?”

“Mistakes were made.

President Ronald Regan said those words 20 years ago, at a time when admitting a mistake was perceived as a sign of strength, not weakness.”

“I made a mistake in defending a war that is in desperate need of re-examination. Re-examination, which cannot come until we acknowledge that the war itself, was a mistake.”

“There’s a part of me hopes that you never read this. Because if you are, it means you have discovered some of the mistakes I have made in my life, and while I have tried to set those mistakes right, I know that I’ll never be able to completely repair your trust. It tortures me to think that I have ever caused you a moment’s pain. But I know I have, I only hope that you can find it in your heart; a heart that is far better and purer than mine, to forgive me my sins.

Because despite my mistakes and errs in judgement, I have always loved you. I have always treasured your love and the love for the children, each one of them is a little piece of you. Each one is so lucky to have gotten your kind heart, and no matter what mistakes I’ve made and to the extent of the pain those mistakes may have caused, I know I’ve done at least one right thing in this life --- and that was to fall in love and make a family with you, because our family means so much more to me than my mistakes suggest.

Our family is everything… the best thing I did in my life.”

- A deceased husband to his wife.

Some touching, some ever-so-real, and some to just make us ponder upon life’s idiosyncrasies. It was something I needed to ease the bombardment of crap I had to take in these few weeks.

And as I trudge on through the final days of this Prelim examination, I am somewhat grateful for the support of those around me, my family and friends, because the vortex of emotions is eating into me.

I’m tired, so very tired. I long to sleep and wake up with all this crap behind me, but the flutter of my eyelids just sucks me back into reality, the emotional distress, pressure and jolting of my senses back into action.

As I’m sinking through the sands of my life, let’s hope that I can pop out into a safe haven, or maybe, the provision of a helping hand or a rope to pull me out.

I’m clawing and clawing, to find a way out, an alternative.

And I ask myself,

“When can I stop? Am I supposed to...?”

Ratatouille: C'est bon!

Ok. I know some people have been questioning what I’ve been updating even though I mentioned in previous posts that I was going to be on a hiatus. Well, I guess I won’t ever bother mentioning that again. After all, sometimes when I feel like blogging it just needs a certain spark you know? If I ever decide to stop blogging then well, I just will.

Yesterday was the final day of part 1 of our Sec 4 Prelim 2. Geography was bleah, I mean seriously unexpected to me. Mrs Bala commented to me when I was walking down the stairs to the hall that I “looked like I was going to be slaughtered”. I certainly felt like a zombie after only having about 5 hours of sleep the previous night.

Sat down for the exam and as usual, time constraints made it hard to write as many points as possible. I’m used to it I guess. After the exam, I went back to class with JX and we met Mrs Bala (so coincidental!) and then I was complaining to her about the stupid paper… then she commented that JX look “destroyed”. I wanted to correct her there and then that JX ALWAYS looks destroyed. Lol.

E Maths Paper 2 was surprising easy; I was only unsure of a few questions. Let’s hope that paper 2 pulls up my grades! =X

After the paper, I guess everyone heaved a sigh of relief; at least we could have a short break. Went out with the 4H people to catch Ratatouille. The show was really good, lived up to the rave reviews that the critics were giving it. I’m not really a big fan of animation movies because I think they aren’t really worth the money. Do you guys know Chicken Little was only about an hour long? Shrek The Third was underwhelming as well.

Anyways, Ratatouille is set in Paris and it’s just gorgeously made into an animated landscape! The movie was overall endearing, funny, and heart-warming. A movie of such gastronomical proportions whet my appetite and made me find rats adorable! Haha. I give it a 4/5!

After the movie we made our way back to Plaza Sing. We had seen a notice earlier about Aaron Kwok arriving at about 7 for his autograph session and since our movie ended around that time, we made our way over from The Cathay. We stood at the side at the back of the crowd and after a few moments, Aaron Kwok appeared with a group of bodyguards surrounding him. He was looking down and shielding his face… ahh, couldn’t get a glimpse of him up close, oh well.

There was quite a big crowd and mostly he was just talking and talking about his concert. The emcee was rather annoying ‘cause she keep giggling and teasing the fans but hey, I guess that’s her job.

And then they just talked and talked so we listened for a bit and made our way home. After all, he appeals more to the “auntie crowd” so we weren’t really interested in getting his autograph or picture.

Ok, pictures! Thanks to Wei Jie for taking them!

Aaron Kwok amongst rabid, screaming fans and aunties!
Um, I like his clothes!

For all you HSM fans out there! Especially Grabriella fans!
There's a Disney exhibition at PS.
While checking out some HSM merchandise, I pointed at Ashley Tisdale and commented,
"I see the nose... where is she?"
And earned myself a slap from self-professed fan Vincent.
Touché.
But it's true!

Teachers' Day 2007

As like many other schools, we celebrated Teachers’ Day on Friday and it was a day filled with laughter, surprises and tons of fun.

On Thursday, I was persuading everyone in class to come to school. I mean, it’s the last time we’ll be celebrating Teachers’ Day in VS, wouldn’t you want to be a part of it?

Well, I was glad most people bothered turning up on Friday so I was kinda happy about it. See, it wasn’t that boring right?

Went around giving gifts to teachers and taking pictures. It was nice to be appreciative through actions for this special day.

So we had class time for like a short 50 minutes? Which was kinda pathetic cos we wasted almost an hour in the hall waited for the performance to start. The dedication videos were made quite sweetly, I’m sure the classes that spent time doing the videos had a fun time filming it. Most of the videos induced laughter and how every teacher always gave their best for us, no matter how much they had to give. That is definitely what a great teacher is about.

After all the videos and performances, we had this little presentation ceremony that awarded titles to teachers. Ms Raksha won the “Best Hairstyle Award” Congratulations!

I shudder at the thought for this is the last Teachers’ Day in VS… Next year, I’ll need to travel all the way back to VS to see all the teachers again. Meeting all my classmates, teachers, everyone again. Ahh, so emotional thinking about this.

I bought a small gift for Ms Tang, which is a small ornament with an apple, book, a pen and a whistle. And it had a little message that says “Teachers pass on seeds of knowledge that last forever.” That is so true…

We had this mini celebration with Ms Tang and I was a little late so I missed what happened between Ms Tang and Ren An. Apparently he smashed cake in her face and she did the same. When I went down to the PSB room, there was chocolate cake strewn all over the floor outside. It was revenge as Ms Tang had smashed cake in Ren An’s face during his birthday. Haha.

Teachers’ Day 2007 will definitely bring back fond memories and I will be back next year to say hi and wish all the teachers a Happy Teacher’s Day. This bitter sweetness will last for quite a while in me…

Putting aside all the sad emotions, some happy pictures!

Rayson got Mr Munir an "iDom" after suggestions from us.
3 condoms + 1 Seductive CD.
He says he wouldn't use it though, 'cos he says,
"I'm a good boy."
Right.

Helped Javin take pictures with the teachers.
His mum is so generous, she got them handbags and watches.
Aww.
Mrs Setho, smile!

Mrs Peh and Mdm Teo!

4C with their little gathering with the teachers!
I kaypoh-ed and watched their little performance for the teachers!
Lol, was it hilarious when they teased the teachers!

Sinful cakes! Yum.

Ms Tang thanking everyone before proceeding to cut the cake while we sing her a Happy Teachers' Day song! (:

Linus must be enjoying the sinful chocolate fudge cake...
Ms Tang too.

Ms Tang relented and finally let me take a picture with her after I convinced her she looked alright!
Pretty in pink!

Was shocked when I saw Liew Xun and Jont Pung.
Haven't seen them in ages!
We actually managed to chat quite a bit after so long!
Qamarul joined in the picture.
We used to be classmates in Sec 2. Yups.

Hans the cam 'ho! Why did I take them? I have no idea why!

Ms Tang says she looked terrible and shielded her face.
Hans just had to get in the picture!
Haha.

Happy Teachers' Day to all the teachers in the world!
You guys deserve it!
=)
