Post-VC Pictures!

Serious hangover after 24 hours makes you smile like this.
Oh yeah, that is Ryan’s unglamorous looking pose and his things, oops, thighs, in the background.

4B’s balloon-constructed VS logo.
Good effort guys!

--------------------------------

When Biology lesson gets boring…

*warning, you might feel slightly perturbed*

You whip out your camera and start to take weird pictures of people doing weird things.

Let’s have a look, shall we?

If Jing Xuan’s hand was just a little lower, the picture would look so wrong.

Ok, Matthias, you’re adorable, lah!

Ms Leow announced to the class that I was taking a picture of Chester’s BELLYBUTTON.

I’m like, what?!
Damn my camera flash that alerted her.

Just so you know, I was taking a picture of his polka-hearts boxers which he is definitely proud of, right?

“L” back to you too!

Jing Xuan trying to look intellectual…

Punk acting cute???

Goodness knows how this got in my camera; Chester must have cam-whored with it.

Oh wells, at least he looks more intellectual?

No offence, JX.

Um, I did this a favour for Chester, I mean I wouldn’t ask him to shove his butt in front of camera…

You can see the silhouette of his boxers here… xD

Decisions, decisions.

There are some days where some decisions you make matter the most.

Today was one of those days.

Racial Harmony

29 Days to Prelim 2.

84 Days to the 'O's.

Ever since young, I had a rather “confined” environment growing up. Since I started schooling at four, I hardly came into contact with other races despite living in a multi-racial Singapore. I was brought up in a very “Chinese” environment. That was four years ago, when I knew almost zilch about the other ethnic races. Most of my knowledge, albeit sparse, was obtained from watching cultural shows on TV.

Imagine the culture shock when I set foot in Victoria School! There were numerous racial cliques everywhere; my eyes were dazed from the ethnic diversity. Somehow, a growing ball of awkwardness formed in my stomach and I felt awfully suppressed. Naturally, I found it hard to approach the other races for fear of offending them. The first few weeks were rather lonesome as I could not adjust to my new class. But I guess after a while, the walls of unfamiliarity crumbled and interacting with my fellow classmates of different races was a piece of cake. As such, my social circle just expanded steadily and I felt proud to be in the school.

Racial harmony in Singapore is usually commemorated in schools across the island, so much so that it has become synonymous with in-your-face celebrations where different ethnic groups perform their art form --- usually traditional song and dance for the school population. Some people find it hilarious but I simply dismiss such mockery as a lack of knowledge about other races. Worse still, I find that they are disrespecting their fellow Singaporeans with their raucous laughter.

I for one, thoroughly enjoy these cultural performances. They remind us of entertainment passed down from our forefathers and how these performances used to be of such regalement to the common folk. I feel that the school has been a wonderful avenue for students to be exposed to others cultures and knowledge religious practices present in out institution. Of course, everyone loves to bask in the atmosphere when teachers and students alike dress in their own or the ethnic costumes of others.

Finally, who can ignore the wide variety of food that Singapore offers? With hundreds of food originating from each individual race, we are spoilt for choice. I am sure there are delicacies that are pleasing to even the most refined palate and everyone has his or her favourite food! My favourites would definitely be the Hainanese Chicken Rice and Indian Roti Prata!

Being in Singapore we are lucky to be exposed to so many cultures. Already we have four resident cultures and cultural shows all the year round. We also have shows which blend the four. If that is not enough, occasionally we get cultural events from other parts of the world. Racial Harmony is definitely an important part of our Singaporean lives.

Living harmoniously and accepting each other graciously for who we are makes us a unique society and we will continue to be one for years to come!

Do people secretly lust after you?

V6 – Brand-New World

Maybe in a brand-new world, they will.

How can I make myself happy?

Tank - 千年泪 (Thousand year-old tears)

As though I’ll have enough tears to last that long…
Even if I was that ecstatic... I wouldn't bawl my eyes out.

What should you do with your life?

Linkin Park – What I’ve Done

Do what I’ve done before?

Will you ever have children?

Utada Hikaru – Kiss & Cry

Absolutely random.
Let me examine it then.
Um, maybe I'll kiss my babies when they're crying to make them feel all better!
Aww.

I'll pass on tagging others cuz I think most people have been tagged already. (:

IT Club Prize-giving Day 21/7/07

Yeah I only have these few pictures!
Thanks to Wei Jie and Pock Thong for taking them!

It’s been a while since I had emceed and I took on this role rather hastily as Glen approached me last Tuesday. At first, I thought it would be a small prize-giving ceremony for IT club with primary school kids as guests, so imagine our surprise when we went for rehearsals on Friday. Workers were scurrying around trying to put up the 1.8k back drop for the theme of one of the competitions.

Our principal even had them put up banners and decorate the auditorium stage with flowers and all. Whoa, then we were told that principals, teachers, directors, ministers and just lot of important people were attending. Sent shivers down my spine.

It definitely was a BIG event.

Yeah, I wouldn’t say it was a great experience, not for me anyways. But I’m glad I managed to lend IT club people a hand for their event as they were in need of emcees. So yeah, hopefully I didn’t do too badly! Thank goodness my nerves didn’t get the better of me.

To the IT Club members, I think you guys handled the entire event wonderfully despite the stress and last minute changes! =)

I kinda understand why most of the current sec 3 emcees would rather take a breather doing emceeing because it’s hard to hold up a smile when things go awry and its stressful being under the scrutiny of others --- especially when everyone’s eyes are on you when you are standing up on that stage behind the rostrum.

But hey, I guess its sort of enjoyable to be able to speak in front of the crowd, haven’t felt that in a while. I’m contented.

I would consider the previous week leading up to Saturday, my so-called “final week to participate in big events” because from now on, it’s all the way.

----------------------------------------------

Mr Maran was talking to the monitors today about whether it was a good idea to have our sec 4 prelim 1 split before and after the holidays. Obviously, I think most of the sec 4s weren’t in favour.

Guess what?

Its déjà vu all over again for Prelim 2. does the arrangement suck or what?

Counting down the days to the Sec 4 Prelim 2…

Gosh I just realised it’s exactly a month from today.
Wish me luck!

王牌对王牌 Pictures +
I lost my virginity!

Refer to my a few of my posts previously to find out more!
Pictures post for this!(:

I LOVE THIS PICTURE!
Haha!

Yup, the Victorian who will go against Kevin is
TAN WEI JIE!

Wei Jie, trying out the skipping moves in front of the camera.
He got stumped for the cross-skips and I think the producer got a bit desperate so...

I was asked to try out.
Let me make this clear:
I CAN'T SKIP FOR NUTS.

Me, feeling all embarrassed and flustered because my shoe lace kept coming off and I kept getting the rope tangled around my foot.
Damn.

Cut my segment out please?

I think the pic is a little blur 'cos I was giggling away when I took it. =)

Friends for now.
Competitors later.
TRUCE?!

Going through a little bit of rehearsing!

More instruction giving...

This was a challenge before ours, the guy had to burst the most number of balloons in a minute.
It was damn loud and shocking when the balloons exploded, showering saliva on everyone.
Gross.

Lol, look he's hiding behind a pillar because of the noise! xD
Cue terrified expressions and screams.

Wei Jie doing a little introduction video of himself!

The battlefield.
Where skipping ropes are wielded and seconds may separate you from being a winner or a loser.

Wei Jie is flirting chatting with Eelyn Kok.
I think most of us were jealous.
Hmph.
Haha, just kidding lah.

Okay, I so don't know what they were scheming about but it sure looked sinister...

Wah, Kevin,
好帅 worhx!

Counting the number of hoops.
Each hoop determined the number of checkpoints he passed through.

I was trying to make this picture look scandalous.
Oh well. ;p

Wei Jie's turn!
He's doing rather well!

Oooh, defying gravity!!!

纷纷地讨论成绩。
Look at MC King's expression. Lol.

Round 2:
Kevin had to compete with the little girl as he tied with her at 9 hoops each, the fastest person who got around the entire triangle wins the $600!
By the way, Wei Jie managed to get 6 hoops.

加油!

PRIZE-GIVING TIME!

Eelyn being mocked by the other hosts because no one on her team won the top prize!
Aww.

Woohoo!
I managed to take a picture with Pornsak! =D

----------------------------------------------

Okay, I guess by now most of you are wondering whether I got violated or something, but I'm still a virgin, thank you very much!

Ask me again when I'm 21!
I might give you an answer. I just might.

I just lost my Ben & Jerry's virginity!
With 5 other guys, no less! =p

Merlion Monster! xD
6 taste-bud rockin' flavours!
My favourite is strawberry cheesecake.
Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Random picture of everyone eating!

So who do you think won the $600?
Let's just say the ice-cream was a treat and I got a cab-ride home!
Yay-ness!

Victoria Challenge & Speech Day 131

The whole of last week had been hectic. We had lessons for the first 3 days of the week and got back some very demeaning results. Alright, maybe for some people it was demeaning, but maybe for others it was laughter and joy, but I’m sure it didn’t dampen our spirits much in planning and executing our Victorian Challenge.

I guess our challenge wasn’t exactly very challenging, I must say we didn’t put in a lot of effort in planning it as being sec 4s, I guess we were more concerned with our results for the time being. Not to mention our proposals were rejected time and again and our approved proposal only got back to us like 2 weeks before VC --- in the midst our exams furthermore. How convenient!

Anyways, our 4H’07 VC was to create a music video for our Victorian anthem. We first met with some problems as we couldn’t get a proper accompanying version of the anthem. The versions we got were rather sucky and really horrible to the ears. So we decided to use the background music that we use when we have assembly in the classroom.

Apparently it was too short, like 1min30s only, so the entire class decided that we should do a video for VC with the theme “V” for Victoria. Weijie, Zhongli, Kia Hong and I went around taking pictures of the staff doing the “V” sign. Boy, was it hilarious for some teachers! I think everyone should have a look at the video! =)

Our class was really lucky to have our holding room in the IT lab on the 2nd floor. I think we were really privileged to be able to stay in that room, with the aircon on and having access to the internet. That was really cool.

I must say good things do come in disguises. Rayson and I spent almost half an hour filming Chester Lum that day. We wanted to show a Victorian walking into school and having this amazing race style of videoing. Now I used the video cam that I borrowed from the media lab. Unfortunately, the video cam was not compatible with any of our computers. So I kinda panicked and started calling Mu Yao to ask him what happened and what to do! x)

Thankfully, he referred me to Mr Siow, who was kinda working on his own video. His own VC for that 24 hours was to create a video for VC too. He gladly agreed to lend us his video cam and he told us about this great video concept that he had and explained the details to us.

I discussed it a little with Rayson and gamely decided to take on the challenge. It’s much like the scene in DOA where Victorians are going on with their daily activities and then they receive this sms that says “You are invited to Victoria Challenge!” then they start to run away really quickly and gather like power rangers and all. Haha.

I guess everyone has to see it and I think I’m very proud of the work we did. We were still filming at 4am that day. That’s like 18hours into the challenge already.

After that well, we just worked and worked and worked our asses off for the video till morning came. We had Mac’s at 5 am too! That’s a new experience.

Well we finally completed both videos and it looked nice. (:

Speech day was exciting too! Chin Boon and I were asked to man our laptops showcasing our VC videos and we were really really hoping Mr Teo would come in and view it. Unfortunately, he skipped our room entirely… that was such a disappointment. Chin Boon and I missed the singing of the anthem and spelling cheer for that and it was quite disheartening. Oh wells.

Anyways, I don’t want to go into too many details because there is just too much to talk about!

So then that evening, I went our with Danial, Shervin, David, Changda and Yu Fan for dinner at Treats. Met this awfully uncouth guy who spouted profanities at us. So rude. You can read their blogs to find out what happened, I don't wanna dirty this post mentioning that shallow person. Bleargh.

All in all, VC was indeed challenging and memorable and I sincerely hope everyone learnt much more about each other about the experience.

I would like to thank everyone in 4H for their contributions, our teachers-in-charge, Mr Siow (for crediting us in his video!) and everyone who had volunteered to be part of our video!

Thank you all!
Love you guys!
Nil Sine Labore!

Javin, Eddie and Kia Hong spent 5 hours doing this.
In the video, its like 30 pictures put together to show the effect of the picture forming together.
Great job guys!

Wei Jie did this!
Pretty cute huh?

Kia Hong and I worked on this mural in the sand.
Wei Jie took the picture!

This was included in the Victorian Anthem vid.

Roxorzzz!!!

Pointing to the sky again!
The weather coupled with the scenery that day was PERFECT.

In the FlexSI room where our video was presented.
Most teachers had a good laugh at our "V" for Victoria video.
MOST of them.

Unleash your inner Man-Slut.
Any takers?
