Hey Cinderella!

What did Cinderella do when she got to the ball?

Highlight below.

She choked.

Dear Cinderella,

At least you had the ball...

I got screwed by an exam script. Whee.

Would I get my happily ever after?

The Aftermath

Exams are but an obstacle where one has to overcome. Exams make you pick up your pen and write your name on those menacing scripts. Then you think, writing my name is such a chore. Why waste precious seconds writing your name repeatedly on all the pieces of paper. Then you realise, you’re digressing. Sigh.

Exam questions are much like traps, they snap at you where you least expect, and some you do not manage to escape unscathed. You stare at your questions and you’re left with 2 options, you think, think and think.

Exams keep you on your toes. You glance at the timer, you’re behind time. You choose an answer and move on, but wait, you can’t get the last question out of your mind, you go back and stare at it, all the while chanting in your mind, “Is there another possibility, is there? This seems ok, this too.” You erase your shaded answer, shade another, then erase it again. Sigh.

Exams confine you in a freezing school hall. The scenario repeats itself over and over again as you proceed. Your heart races. It’s freezing, but you feel warm all over. You adjust your sweater; you roll up your sleeves, it droops after a while. It offers little comfort through warmth. Sigh.

Exams make you panic. Your throat feels dry. You roll your parched tongue over your lips. That bottle of water sits quietly in front of you. You glare at it and you yearn for gratification, you want its contents swimming down your throat. But you hesitate; you can’t waste time going to the restroom for a piss. You grit your teeth and proceed with your paper. Sigh.

Exams are like marathons, except you need to stick to its time limit and its tough to say, "I bettered my best." It may seem oh-so-short, but in fact it’s an eternity. The seconds climb, higher and higher and higher. You pause to think and realise you can’t afford such respite. You scream in your mind “SCREW YOU.” And you move on to the next question.

Tick-tick-tick,

Tock.

You finish your final question. No time to catch a breath, you whisper. 2 minutes, 2 freaking minutes. You stare at the previous questions with enigmas hovering over them, digest them and write down the answer that comes to your mind. No, it’s wrong. You cancel your answer, as you struggle desperately to pen down those few words; time has caught up with you.

You lost. You failed. Destitute feeds on your spent body, it engulfs you. You sink lower in your chair… Sigh.

The paper is over. You proceed downstairs and reciprocate your doubts to others. Amidst the crowd you see a few cliques in rabid discussion over their answers. The corresponding replies amongst your friends fires up your confidence.

“YES, I’m right!”

“Yeah, man I got that too!”

They rejoice, albeit exasperated.

You think to yourself, it is worth those few moments of elation to know you did something right? Is it necessary? After all, it might still be wrong.

You pass by the cliques with a heavy heart, they demoralise you with their chatter. You wanna shut them out.

“I want to throw myself on the road and just die. Shut up, I know I’m silly. I make stupid mistakes, stop rubbing it in.”

Did I do right? Do I deserve such a predicament?

The aftermath.

You want to comfort yourself with tears but you can’t bring yourself to.

“I’ll save it for the last.”

The after-feeling. It sucks, it really does.

And guess what?

So does Life.

Sigh.

MC’07 Camp / Handover

The highlight of this final week of the June holidays --- MC’07 Camp and Handover. *spends a moment to recollect thoughts*

Hmm, okay. I went to school on Wednesday, really early in the morning and watched the monitors playing a few rounds of ice-breakers. Ernest and I just sat and talked abit about the monitors who attended and how it was like during our ’06 camp. Anyways, the monitors were playing a round of whacko and I guess the funniest parts were the forfeits.

Weng Keong got smacked real hard on his behind by a paper roll wielded by Pei Xiang. Clement had to run up to the 7th floor adjoining bridge and scream at the top of his lungs “I LOVE VS!” And poor Kar Hoe, got tau-poked really harshly, ouch. I felt sorry for them even though I was laughing away. Haha.

Well that’s all for the first day of MC camp… I didn’t really enjoy what they did on the first day as I had lessons.

Thursday. I wanted to join the monitors for rock-climbing ober at VJC but I felt too tired from the previous day, guess I must have missed out a lot. Did I mention rock-climbing is FUN?! Haven’t rock-climbed in years.

Well, I had to go school for math lesson till 5. Then I promptly joined the monitors who were having a BBQ. I must say the food was really exotic… no wonder they spent 200+ dollars on the BBQ food only. Whoa. But that ain’t a bad thing after all, huh?

After the BBQ it was Monitors’ Night. I thought it was a great activity as there were 3 different groups of monitors who had to perform their skits. I asked Danial before what the skits were based on and he said nothing. There was no central theme… the only condition? Just make us laugh.

And laughed we did. Even the group names were hilarious. The first group was M.Suniverse (“Not MS UNIVERSE!”), the second group was The Chias and the last was Smack That! All the skits had racist innuendos and it was difficult trying to stifle my laughter (its worse when you’re sitting beside someone like Ernest Puey!). I guess I thoroughly enjoyed all the performances and since we Sec 4s were the judges, it was even better.

In the end, we gave the monitor playing the “Chindian” the best actor award and Smack That was awarded for the best performance for a group. Of course, none of the groups went home empty-handed as there were prizes for other activities too! Kudos to the Sec 3s for buying the prizes. The Sec 3s then presented all the campers with their MC’07 t-shirts, desgined by our one-and-only Ernest Puey! Yay-ness!

After the award presentation… it was emo time. Ernest went to the front and started talking a little about what was about to happen. And one by one, the Sec 4s of the 06/07 EXCO went up and announced his next-in-line. We shook hands, and sealed the “deal” with a gift I had prepared for all the new EXCO members. John Cheo felt that I was an emo person for preparing gifts… I was like, “No lor! It’s just a little something for them.”

Well, the MC EXCO 07/08 are as follows:

Chairman: Weng Keong!
Vice-chairman (Admin): Danial!
*My successor, woots!*
Vice-chairman (Training): Shervin!

Welfare heads: Reggie & Kar Hoe!
Internal head: Christopher!
Special events head: Clement!
Secretary: Yun Han!

CONGRATULATIONS to all of them! I KNOW you guys will do GREAT.

Hope you guys like the gift I got for you too! (:

As like my previous PSB handover post, I have some quotes for the MC EXCO as well.

Doubters do not achieve,
Skeptics do not contribute,
Cynics do not create.

&

The secret of success is the constancy of purpose.

Yup, so always know that whatever we do in MC is for the benefit for all the monitors, efficiency and good work is always a must. I do know that there are many exciting events coming up in the next year and I’m sure MC can play a big role in some, if not all of them.

So 07/08 EXCO, GANBATTE!
T
he 06/07 EXCO will still be around for the next few months if you need any help!

Thanks to the 07/08 EXCO, the ExFacs, the campers, the graduates, 06/07 EXCO, teachers-in-charge, Mr Leo & Ms Yeo for being part of the camp. You guys helped to make this camp a success and also ended it with a loud bang, with our MC-headed VS cheer! You guys rock! I can never thank the sec 3s enough for the wonderful time and yeah, keep in touch ok? =)

Random Pictures Post

Hey everyone. I have an announcement to make and that is --- I’m HOME ALONE, sorta. Yep, my entire family jetted off to Melbourne yesterday, leaving my older brother and I stuck in sunny Singapore. Poor us. :’(

I've been putting my nose to the grindstone these past few days, I feel so sick burying myself in textbooks. Luckily, I managed to go out yesterday with my Gugu and Shushu for a nice dinner at Fish & Co. Hadn’t eaten there for a long time so I thoroughly enjoyed my fish & chips, although I couldn’t finish all my fries. On the way there, I realised I hadn’t left my house since Saturday! Woah, imagine being stuck at home for so long, it sucks big time. Ahh.

Life now is seriously uber mundane. I don’t know what to blog about so here are some pictures I transferred from my handphone… realised I had had them in my handphone since who-knows-when. It’s just a few so I’ll upload the rest when I have time in my next post! =)

My god-brother, Samuel!
His hair thinned out in the front cos he kept rubbing his forehead and the hair fell out.
Lol.

His hair has grown out now and he's even chubbier!

My cousin, Ethan, with the maid attending to him.
Aren't both of my cousins adorable?
Who do you think is cuter...?
I can't decide!

Posing for a picture with Ms Ernie during her last day at work.
Do you guys remember her?
She used to work at the VS library counter...
Gosh, I miss her... it's been so long!

I absoulutely love this picture drawn by our '06 Sec 4 librarians!
It's sooo creative, it's amazing how they transformed Aslan and Harry Potter into rotound, tubby comical characters!
It was for the library fantasy-themed book display and I think it was one of the best we had ever done!

Thanks for the effort, guys! (:

SL Interviews & PSB AGM

First up I would like to wish my father Happy Birthday, he celebrated his b'day on Thursday!
Also, Happy Brithday to Jonathan Tan, who celebrated his b'day yesterday!

-----------------------------------------------------------

Whew. I finally found the time to blog again. I’m losing more and more interest in using the computer these few days. I realised that when I’m using the computer and it’s like, I keep visiting the same websites over and over again and there aren’t any new stuff so it gets soo boring. That’s why I’m gonna stop using the computer for awhile and let the webbies get updated a little more so when I use the computer again… then it’ll be more exciting.

Anyways the past few days have been hectic. I realised I returned to school for a grand total of 4 days last week and the 2nd week of the June holidays have just zoomed past. One day after the PSB Handover (read: aww!), I had to return to school for the Senior Leaders 07/08 interviews…

I thought the atmosphere for the interview was quite jovial, I mean we weren’t really very strict or anything. There was laughter (mostly contributed by us) because of some answers from the sec 3s… But somehow the presence of 7 Sec 4s surrounding the interviewee is rather daunting. I could see many of the interviewees were nervous, and it was hard on them because some questions were just cut-throat. Some of the questions just stumped people. =O
I don’t know, but I thought some questions were rather harsh… but we also had some random questions such as “Why is an iPod called and iPod?”

I think it’s a mutual experience because we got to learn more about the sec 3s and also learnt more about out flaws when the sec 3s pointed it out to us. So thank you interviewees, for letting us learn more about you and ourselves.

Sorry that I can’t reveal too much about the interviews because some sec 3s haven’t been interviewed yet but all I’ll say is that GOOD LUCK to all… be prepared for the unexpected. Yupps. The interviews will be held sometime next week, so wait for someone to call you…

Some pictures of us during the interview sessions:

Jonathan posing a question.. hmm?

Listening intently to their answers!

Syamil with the interview devices... wahaha.

---------------------------------------------

Attended the PSB AGM on Friday. I must say it was a good way to connect with the new EXCO as we pointed out all the problems we had during our EXCO term and asked for their opinions on how to improve the activities we took part in. Also, there were many suggestions for new activities and I think PSB will be back even bigger and better next year. I think Ms Tang has tons of plans for the new EXCO and it is so exciting… I wish I could play a part in the activities too! Ok maybe I could join a few lol!

We are a very, very ambitious student board indeed… and it ain’t a bad thing! I’m sure that the sec 3s will definitely do a good job! Just don’t stress yourselves out too much, k?

----------------------------------------------------

So I was flipping through The Sunday Times today and guess who I saw? Mr Jonathan Oh and his wife! Their home was featured in the newspaper on Page 26 and Mr Oh did a write up on the interior design concept of his home. It’s resort-themed… and I see a plasma tv! I’m so envious… I want a plasma tv too! Haha. Their home definitely looks cosy! Oh yeah I took a few pics… have a look!

Surprise surprise! (:

PSB HANDOVER BBQ 2007

Yesterday was the handover BBQ for the 06/07 PSB. I’m taking deep breaths typing this now because I want to make sure that I am able to express myself fully without letting my mind wander and also because I do no want to get too emotional with my writing. So if you are interested to know more then please… read on.

The day before, I was telling myself as I was going about my daily chores that, “I don’t want tomorrow to come, I don’t want it to happen… because… I don’t know how I would react in such situations.” Alas, yesterday was THE day, the first handover of my sec 4 life.

I went to school yesterday, making sure that I stayed positive and brave. Met up with the rest of sec 4s and whiled my time away taking photos. I wanted to keep such memories you know…

Anyways, the sec 3s did a fabulous job planning and executing the BBQ yesterday. I genuinely enjoyed myself thoroughly eating the food that you guys painstakingly spent time cooking and even declined politely when we asked you to eat. You guys went all out to make sure that the sec 4s and Ms Tang didn’t have empty plates in front of them and the food just kept coming and coming. It was also a great chance for the PSLs and SPSLs to interact together and know about all the latest happenings in your schooling life.

So yes, THANK YOU for the wonderful time together and I’m sure all the sec 4s felt the same way.

After the BBQ, the sec 3s also meticulously spent time clearing up all the rubbish and making sure everything was in tip-top condition, even asking us if everything was alright. Of course, we gladly said YES because it was great to see all of you working together.

Up next was the video presentation that was Jont spent ages doing and I thought it was a wonderful video. It showed all the unforgettable moments and cool events that happened during the past year. It certainly invoked laughter and nostalgia in everyone. And yes, most of the laughter was courtesy of my segment of the video (which was undoubtedly the longest part of the video) that portrayed me in an uber embarrassing moment. Shan’t go into details about that...

At the end of the video was the results of the EXCO positions and I think the all those who applied but didn’t get in, accepted the new EXCO gracefully and clapped and cheered spontaneously for everyone. All the sec 3s made that moments special. Well the 07/08 EXCO is as follows:

Chairman: Glen Ng
Vice-chairman: Linus Ong
Secretary: Alphonsus
Logistics Heads: Jun Cong, Sherwin
External Communications Head: Weng Keong
Curriculum Heads: Oswin, Muslihuddin
Internal Head: Ze Wei
Special liaisons head: John

COONGRATULATIONS~!!!

Yep, so my successor is Alphonsus! *Claps and cheers wildly*

So after the results were announced, the new an old EXCO members went up and gave small speeches. Let me say now that I am very proud of all the sec 3s and I think all of you are special and unique in your own way. Being up there to give a speech, my mind was a blur so I missed out quite a few things so here goes!

I hope everyone in the new EXCO will treasure each other and the thick and thin that you will go through as you embark on your own journey. Do everything with pride and confidence and do it because you WANT to and not because you HAVE to. Work well with all your fellow PSLs because you guys cannot do without each other. Always remember that us seniors will be here to help!

And I quote from Dr Phil that:

If you want more, you have to require more from yourself.

This can never be stressed on enough because it’s what every individual does that brings everyone to greater heights and also PSB.

To my fellow 06/07 EXCO I can never thank you enough for everything and all of you have been the best buddies/school mates/EXCO members ever! All the best for everything! And to dear Kevin Ng, our PSF I/C, thank you for being there always. Your presence has been a wonderful motivation too! Don’t feel too sad about not getting a t-shirt, k?

I LOVE EVERYONE IN PSB AND PSB IS THE <3!

I CAN NEVER THANK YOU ENOUGH.
ROCK ON!

REMEMBER THAT:

YOU NEVER STAND ALONE.

KEEP THE PEER SUPPORT SPIRIT BURNING BRIGHT.

Here’s some pictures from last night!

EXCO 06/07 goofing around!

My pictures with everyone, I definitely will remember these!

Sec 3 PSLs, you guys were the BEST.
Thanks for the wonderful evening!

Viewing the video presentation...

07/08 EXCO!!!
Well, most of whom were present at least!

Lol.

Me, giving a little speech!
Hope I didn't bore you guys to tears! x)

06/07 EXCO!
You guys rock!
We're all wearing the new PSB 2007 t-shirt.
Cool huh?

"Aww!" moments...
A new generation of PSB.
A new legacy for you to leave...

Bon voyage!

Does anyone realise that today’s date is 05/06/07?
Haha.

Well, I went to the airport today to see Rayson and the other band members off for their concert band trip to Brisbane. Met Gena at Terminal One after waiting for like 1 hr+? Lol.

So while I waited for Gena, I spent my time reading my story book. Then after meeting her, I met up with Rayson after he had checked his luggage in. We headed over to Swensens for dinner and our entire meal for 3 people was a total of $70.42. Whoa. But I must say I enjoyed my meal and I realised that I haven’t eaten there for ages!

After our dinner, we quickly rushed back to Terminal 1 as Rayson had to meet up with the rest. All the while I was hoping that I could meet the rest of the band members and the teachers and say bye to all of them. Alas, there were ZERO band members in sight when we reached the departure gates. Damn damn, I kept blaming myself for not saying bye to them earlier on while I was waiting for Gena. I mean, it’s nice to say goodbye to others and telling them to have a safe trip. Oh wells.

Oh yeah, after I said bye to Rayson, I turned around and guess who I saw?! Elaine, Sec 3 RGS girl whom I had worked with in the OC for RGS Peer Support Convention. So we were like saying hi and long time no see because it’s been sooo long! Both her parents were with her too and they were super friendly lah, they were smiling and saying hi to me too. I don’t know why, but I felt super shy and embarrassed. Elaine’s going to Norway by the way, coolness. So I kinda sent her off too, together with her parents! Yayness.

Then I headed back to Terminal 2 to catch the train and I met my dad at one of the payment stations. He’s leaving for Dubai tonight you see. So I just said hello and bye to him after speaking to him for a while. Yupps, and I also sms-ed him and wished him happy birthday because his birthday is on Thursday. Mm-hmm.

I definitely met tons of people at the airport today and it was a bittersweet experience. Well, wishing a uber Bon Voyage to everyone I met today who are going overseas. Enjoy yourselves thoroughly and don’t forget to buy me a souvenir! (:

Because I enjoyed seeing all of you today and you brightened up my day!

Some pictures to share with everyone!

This was what happened to the wet tissue
when I ripped open the wet tissue packet during lunch. >.<

Rayson popping the cherry into his mouth with Gena looking on.
Opps did that come out wrong?

Rayson and I sharing the sticky chewy chocolate sundae!

Both of us look weird... lousy candid shot taken by Gena. Haha (:

Lol. Um, just put this here for fun! =D
