Young Leaders' Day 2007
Yesterday, I headed to Ngee Ann Polytechnic for the Young Leaders’ Day 2007 with Gabriel, Rahul, Syamil, Firdaus, Chin Boon, Hans, Yun Jun, Qamarul, Danial, Weng Keong, Linus and Glen. The theme for the convention was “Own Your World” which I felt was rather apt for us students.
How would students, especially Singapore students, contribute to help save Mother Earth? I felt a sense of familiarity, as the week before, I had written a magazine report for English Prelim about how my class could save the earth through our efforts for Victorian Challenge. The main problem that we were to tackle during this convention was simple: Environmental Degradation. I guess it helps to learn more about the Earth we are living on and I’m happy that I had the background knowledge of the issue through my Geography studies. The 2nd was how we could learn from other Young Leaders’ examples on how they can tackle the responsibilities and stress of being in their positions.
These sharings definitely struck a chord with me and the others. It was rather insightful and inspiring, especially the videos that were shown during the intervals. The video of the disabled kid on Oprah was so touching. I was on the brink of crying. I think many people in the audience were touched by his courage and strength to deal with his disability at the young age of 10.
Well I don’t want to go into too much detail as I think it will bore everyone reading this. So let me just say that all of us have a part to encourage the actions of others in a move to stop environmental degradation.
And as the Batman Begins quote goes:
“It’s not deep down inside that defines you, but what you do.”
Here are some pics of what happened yesterday. (:

Super energetic and high performance from the dance group NRA.

I suggested writing that.
Thanks Danial for helping me write it! (:
