I’m star-struck and still reeling from it.
So yesterday I had maths lesson with Mdm Teo in the morning, it was rather productive as I managed to learn a lot. I guess studying in the air-conditioned AVA room is so much more comfortable than the stupid classroom, with the existence of some obviously, very retarded classmates. Thank goodness for their absence!
Mdm Teo was somehow very high/lame today lol. She brought this “UFO” gadget which is actually 2 curved mirrors placed at strategic angles to form an illusion. The object being placed in it was a spider. So she asked us to stand at a certain distance and asked us to grab it which was well, impossible (duh). Somehow she got a kick of her students trying pathetically to grab the optical illusion of a spider and our shocked exclamations. I was laughing my head off, haha.
After the lesson, my friends and I decided to go to East Coast Park for lunch. There were 7 of us, me, Wei Jie, Ming Han, Varian, Daniel, Jin Chieh and our STAR OF THE DAY, Kevin Ng. Let me tell you why.
Well, we were walking towards the food centre right, then my sharp eyes caught sight of a camera crew about a few metres away. So I was like, “Hey let’s go have a look and see what’s it about, it’s probably a Kid’s Central programme.” *Rolling my eyes*
So all of us decided to move ahead and pry our curious noses into the commotion.
Oh man, I was so so so wrong.
I wanted to scream when I saw Felicia Chin and Pornsak! Oh.my.god. (hyperventilates)
Well, they were hosting this challenge game show entitled “王牌对王牌” or “Beat Stars”. Being very, very blinding in the eyes with their matching red outfits, the 2 bubbly and HIGH hosts APPROACHED OUR LITTLE GROUP.
Pornsak then started telling us that the challenge for today was to see who could do the most number of skips using a skipping rope in 30s. Then they started interviewing us and was asking us which school we were from and our CCAs, age and who could skip the best. Pornsak suddenly asked who in our group has a girlfriend and the other guys sabo-ed me. T.T
The attention was on me now. I was like, “没有女朋友啦!” and Felicia Chin who was standing beside me suddenly said, “就是他旁边的人lor!” I was so uber embarrassed yet feeling insanely happy inside, I wanted to scream!!! Pornsak added on with asking if it was true and I wanted to roll my eyes, but I didn’t. I don’t know why but I blurted out, “我会很乐意!” but she didn’t reply me, haha. And she kept teasing me and whether my girlfriend was from KC. Err. So then she started going uber high and wanted to sing the Victorian anthem ‘cos you know, she was from VJC and all. Felicia Chin, our senior jie jie! =D
Anyways, back to Mr. Kevin Ng, who took up the challenge and did like 90+ skips in 30s. My jaw dropped man, it was so cool and he earned 50 bucks just like that. Coolness. That’s like, weekly pocket money for me?! He also had to show his six-pack to the camera ‘cos Pornsak wanted him to, and Felicia Chin was giggling when he did it, lolx. Thumbs up to you, man. So they took down his number after that as they had a final challenge later on and the producer said she would call him, which she eventually did.
Then Ming Han was pulled out to take on the challenge too, which he tried his best but wasn’t really good. And he said he would surrender, much to our dismay and glee (due to his embarrassment), though I thought he was a great sport! But they took his number down too, as he said he was a table-tennis player and they said there could be a table-tennis challenge in the future and they might call him. So it wasn’t that bad after all!
Well, we headed on and proceeded to have lunch and not too long after, the producer CALLED KEVIN NG. So that determined it, he would be in the final segment of the show.
He had to go for some filming as they wanted to show a little profile video about him. So he had to smile and show V-signs while riding on a bicycle --- ‘cos he said he liked cycling. Hmm.
We waited and waited and then Mark Lee and Vivian Lai showed up. Yepps. 2 more hosts! Together with them was this NS man and his friend accompanying him who were going to be Kevin’s opponent for the day. Kevin then had to select his skipping rope and was briefed about the rules of the challenge. For which he had to skip a certain distance. The challenge required him to skip on one foot 20 times then skip while running a certain distance to the marked line. Following which, he had to do one skip and a cross-handed skip (counted as once) 20 times. All this had to be done the most number of times in 2 minutes and he had to get as many “flower necklaces” around his neck.
So he and the NS guy played rock, paper, scissors and Kevin lost, so he got to play first. Then he started and was skipping, like over 50+ times when the producer said “STOP!” That’s because they had miscalculated and proceeded to tweak the game a little. Damn, was I irritated, poor Kevin had to restart all over again.
Lol, so we were filming and getting ready again and guess who popped by?
JULIAN HEE.
He was rollerblading in East Coast Park that day and chanced upon us. He is so freakin’ tall up close. Maybe I’m just short but he was towering above many of us. Probably cos of his 1.8 m frame and in those skates. So cool, one more star we met that day. Apparently he was blading with his coach and was chatting with Felicia and asking her if she wanted to join, haha.
Ok, so now, Kevin was kinda exhausted, judging from his expression… great. Anyways, he continued to do the challenge which was surprisingly, interesting.

I was like screaming and clapping while my friends were like, so quiet? Why was I the only one so HIGH??? So eventually,he got 4 “flower necklaces” around his neck and did pretty well! Yupps.
Then the other guy got his turn and he was a toughie too, rather skilled in skipping. It was a close fight to the finish and he also got 4 “flower necklaces” around his neck. However, he managed 7 less skips than Kevin during the the one leg skipping part. Kevin skipped 20 times but they guy had stopped at 13.
Haha, whee. Therefore,
KEVIN NG HAD WON WON WON! BIG.
LOTS OF SMACKERS IN HIS POCKET.
Kudos to the NS guy who participated too, he earned himself 250 bucks. Great job, man! (:
Together with our cheers and delight, Kevin was presented a prize, which amounted to a credible amount of ching-a-chings! Along also of course, his mug will be plastered all over the TV screen when the episode is aired and his dear friends (includes me of course) will be shown cheering his ass on. Victoria School students own and we rocked the show that day!
Then all of us took group photos and all and it was really cool. Apart from a few snide and sarcastic comments from a certain host (something about not having breast milk anymore, err.), did I mention the hosts were really nice? They willingly posed for pics when I asked Mark Lee if we could have a group pic. So yayness.
As they crew and hosts were leaving, I quickly asked Felicia Chin if she had a blog as we wanted the pictures she took as well. After which she said she would post our pictures on her blog for us!
Woots.
Then we all bade goodbye, aww.
Rights, so Kevin might just take part again if someone wanted to challenge him and he could just earn more $$$.
This Saturday was an eventful and memorable day and I am damn happy and proud of Kevin. Imagine going to school to mug and meeting stars on the same day, I’m still excited blogging abourrrit now!
Haha, so Kevin, let’s resume discussion about that big meal you owe me now? =p
